Todays adventures

So today i had a superb hit for a few hours which wasn't bad going at all, not quite back to my best but also not far off. Few more of these and the world is my oyster or more like i will stop coughing  up oysters!

Then went to visit a club in Kent which actually with 16 courts looks damn good and you have to wonder wow what would i do if i was head coach here and more to the point how the hell did i miss that one! A definite gold mine of money but more importantly the base to build a very good academy and centre of excellence for all levels of players. Note to self - Must keep an eye out for these ventures in future!

Went back to the office to find out the phone lines were down so no internet or email or surfing web for rubbish information and at that point turned around and came home to work. 10 Minutes later thats work done and thats the day over. Now to get my car from the MOT. Check the fate out having told you it was a trustworthy old banger, £300's worth of work later and it can finally pass an MOT.

Last night saw me at age 38 voted for the second year as chairman of Basildon Tennis Club, i must ask why but at least i have full reign of the club, expenses and coaching. Perfect now to take over the whole of Essex.

Still office bound

Day 3 of being stuck in the office, but then i have been trapsing around the country for the past year from Lands End to John o' Groats to Basildon and places inbetween doing a well below par average of 26,000 miles a year. How does that car do it i wonder? So actually a cool change. Will be back on court tonight for a few hours to practice and then a hit tomorrow morning.
Okay so on a positive note i  am going to check out the list of tournaments to enter next year and start setting some goals towards it.
In the meantime i have 500 letters to get out by the end of the day and the means envelope stuffing to which = income for the company that pays me some money to do what i like to do best.
Chief envelope stuffer at your service ho hum!

Information and top tips

Being new to this blogging and whilst on a gigantic mission to get more than one follower who would be slightly interested in some 38 year old ex-army tennis playing coach. I have decided i will blog some stuff about tennis technique, tactics, fitness and psychology (my fave subject having published 2 books on the subject and a few that haven't been). Although i can't  possibly do this while that damn jungle get me outta here programme is on. Catch you all laters!

More mundane work

The joys of working as a coach, tutor, author and all round entrepreneur whilst trying to maintain a happy family of 4 (myself included) and running a nearly successful business means office work.
I haven't stepped into the PTR office for nearly 6 weeks, the other bods are on holiday (having used mine to full capacity already) mainly due to the fact of that mentioned in the first paragraph. This has led me to find hardly any paper, a printer lacking ink and an enormous amount of printing and paper stuffing to do midst answering phone calls and emails.
In my quest to try and retain my top 500 placing and knowing the fact to make it you have to give a 100 percent focus and ability to it all i have decided to email the publishers as to why my new book has yet to be sorted and go for a KFC. Perhaps the diet side of life can wait.

The Journey Back

I was playing the best tennis of my life before contracting that death defining disease swine flu or known to others as man flu because they don't believe you! From here it was all down hill to a frame of 0 energy and after a 4 week layoff the ability to not even hit a cows arse with a shovel.

But i am working it all back again played a low club division mixed match last night which was fun i managed to play at 30% ability due to the fact it would have been a worthless exercise otherwise. It was nice to meet up with some players who i knew back in the early 90's who have not changed much (including their ability to play) but have just put on some weight. Although they enjoy it and that's what it is about at this level, apart from the one guy who thought he was an older style John Mcenroe and was the bee's knees.

I did manage to work on my touch and angled volleys as well as drop shots from the serves, managed to put a little bit of mileage in my legs. Having once achieving top 500 on the 35's vets circuit i now need to rebuild and plan for 2010. Onwards and upwards!!
